Bank Statement to Excel & CSV: private, with a balance check

Drop a bank or credit-card statement PDF and get a clean spreadsheet: one row per transaction with the date, description, money in, money out and balance. Every printed balance is re-added so rows that don't reconcile are flagged. It also reads invoices and a folder of receipt photos. Your statement is read on your device and is never uploaded.

How to use Bank Statement to Excel

  1. 1. Pick Bank statement, Invoice or Receipts, or leave it on Auto-detect.
  2. 2. Drop your statement PDF (or several receipt photos). It is read on your device, page by page; scanned pages are read with OCR.
  3. 3. Check the summary: money in, money out, opening and closing balance, and any rows flagged in red because the running balance doesn't add up.
  4. 4. Download Excel (.xlsx) with real dates and numbers, or CSV for your budgeting or accounting app. Review the rows before filing taxes.

Frequently asked questions

Is my bank statement uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is opened and read inside your browser with pdf.js, and scanned pages are read with Tesseract OCR on your device. Nothing about the statement is sent to a server. The optional AI column mapper only sends the column headings, never amounts or descriptions, and runs on your device when your browser supports it.

What does the running-balance check do?

For every row that prints a balance, the previous balance plus the transaction amount is compared with the printed balance. Rows that are off by more than one cent are highlighted, and the summary tells you whether the opening balance plus all transactions equals the closing balance, so a missing or misread row stands out.

Which statement layouts work?

Statements with Date, Description, Debit/Credit (Withdrawals/Deposits, Money out/Money in) or a single Amount column, with or without a Balance column, in English, German, French, Spanish or Italian. Descriptions that wrap onto several lines and tables that continue across pages are joined. If there is no header row the columns are inferred from the layout.

Does it handle European number formats?

Yes. It detects whether the document uses 1,234.56 or 1.234,56 (or 1 234,56), reads amounts in parentheses, with a trailing minus or with CR/DR as signed amounts, and exports plain numbers that Excel and Google Sheets treat as numbers, with dates as real dates.

Can it read receipts and invoices?

Yes. Drop several receipt photos and you get one row per receipt with date, vendor, receipt number, subtotal, tax, tip and total, with a check that subtotal plus tax equals the total. Invoice PDFs give the invoice number, date and every line item with quantity, unit price and amount.

Can I use the result for my taxes?

Use it as a starting point. Extraction is automatic and can be wrong, especially on photos and scans, so compare the flagged rows and the totals with the original statement before filing taxes or importing into accounting software.
