Get a free AI key in 2 minutes

GrabCast's AI tools run on your device when your browser can (nothing is sent anywhere), or with your own free key. GrabCast's own server AI is reserved for site admins, so a free key from Google Gemini or Groq is the easiest way to use every AI feature: the requests go from your browser straight to that provider, under your own free quota, and GrabCast doesn't limit them. Signed in? Everything you connect — AI keys, stock media keys, your Google Drive — is in Account → Connections.

Already have a key? Add it here — it's saved in this browser (and, if you're signed in, synced to your account encrypted so it works on your other devices).

Option 1: Groq (fast, free tier)

  1. Open console.groq.com/keys.
  2. Sign in or create a free Groq account (you accept Groq's terms yourself).
  3. Click Create API Key, give it a name such as “GrabCast”, and confirm.
  4. Copy the key right away (it starts with gsk_); Groq shows it only once.
  5. Back here, click Add your key, choose Groq, paste the key and press Save. Test checks that it works.

Groq's free plan has rate limits per model; your current limits are listed at console.groq.com/settings/limits. Read Groq's own privacy policy and terms before you send private text.

Option 2: Google Gemini (Google AI Studio)

  1. Open aistudio.google.com/apikey.
  2. Sign in with your Google account (you accept Google's terms yourself).
  3. Click Create API key and pick an existing Google Cloud project or let it create one.
  4. Copy the key (it starts with AIza).
  5. Back here, click Add your key, choose Google Gemini, paste the key and press Save.

On Google's free (unpaid) tier, Google's terms allow it to use your prompts and answers to improve its products, and human reviewers may read them, so don't send confidential text with a free Gemini key. See the Gemini API Additional Terms. The Gemini API is offered only in the countries Google lists as supported.

No key at all: run the AI on your device

Small on-device models are good for short captions, rewrites and summaries, and weaker at long, detailed writing. Every AI result can be wrong — review it before you use it.
