Frequently asked questions

How do I change the key of a song without changing its speed?

Move only the Pitch slider. Each step is one semitone; +12 or −12 is a full octave. The tempo stays exactly the same.

How do I slow down a song without changing the pitch?

Leave Pitch at 0 and set Speed below 1, for example 0.8. The key stays the same while the song gets slower, which is handy for practicing.

What are the Nightcore and Slowed presets?

Nightcore plays about 25% faster and almost 4 semitones higher; Slowed plays at 85% speed and a little lower, like a record played slower.

Can I use a video file?

Yes. The tool takes the sound from MP4, MOV or WebM videos and saves it as an audio file with the new pitch and speed.

Does it lower the audio quality?

Pitch and tempo processing are applied once and saved at 192 kbps MP3/M4A or lossless WAV. Big shifts can sound more processed, which is normal for any pitch shifter.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm; your audio never leaves your device.
