Frequently asked questions
How does a fancy text generator work?
It doesn’t change the font. Each letter is replaced with a different Unicode character that looks like a styled letter, such as the Mathematical Bold letters used in equations. Because they are ordinary characters, they survive copy and paste into apps that don’t let you choose a font.
Where can I use fancy text?
Most social apps accept it in bios, captions, comments and display names, including Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, Discord and WhatsApp. Some sites block special characters in usernames, and very old devices may show empty boxes for rare characters.
Is fancy text bad for accessibility?
It can be. Screen readers may read styled letters as math symbols (“mathematical bold capital H”) or skip them, and search can’t find them. Use styles for a word or two of decoration and keep names, key information and hashtags in normal text. Strikethrough and underline styles keep the real letters and are the most readable.
Why do some letters not change?
Unicode doesn’t have a styled version of every character. Accented letters, most punctuation and emojis stay as they are, a few styles only have capital letters, and superscript has no q. Script, gothic and double-struck letters like ℬ, ℌ and ℝ come from an older block, which is why they can look slightly different.
How do I make upside-down text?
Use the Upside down style. It reverses the order of your text and swaps each character for a look-alike rotated symbol, such as ɐ for a and ǝ for e, so it reads correctly when the screen is turned around.
How do I make strikethrough text for social media?
Use the Strikethrough style. It adds a combining long stroke (U+0336) after each character, which draws a line through it in almost every app while keeping the original letters, so it stays searchable and readable.
