Text and developer guides: format, encode, compare and count
Small text jobs interrupt real work: a JSON payload that will not parse, a regex that matches too much, a timestamp in a log, a word limit on an application, a block of text in ALL CAPS. These guides explain the concept briefly and then show the fastest reliable fix.
The text and developer tools run entirely in your browser, so API keys, tokens and private data you paste are not sent anywhere. Even so, treat production secrets carefully and rotate any key that has been shared in plain text.

Is it safe to paste tokens or JSON with personal data?
These tools process text locally in your browser and do not send it to a server. Still, avoid pasting live production secrets anywhere you do not control, and rotate a key if it has been exposed.
Does the JWT decoder verify signatures?
No. It decodes the header and payload, which are only Base64URL-encoded and readable by anyone. Verifying a signature requires the secret or public key on your server.
Is MD5 still safe?
MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for detecting accidental corruption but are broken for security uses. Use SHA-256 or stronger to verify downloads, and a dedicated password hashing algorithm such as bcrypt or Argon2 for passwords.
Why does my word count differ from Word or Google Docs?
Counters disagree on hyphenated words, numbers, URLs and symbols. For school or publishing limits, use the counter the institution names, and leave a small margin.
Which UUID version should I use?
Version 4 (random) is the safe default. Version 7 adds a timestamp prefix, which keeps database indexes ordered by creation time.
