Image guides: resize, compress, convert and edit photos
Image problems are usually one of three things: the file is the wrong size (too many kilobytes or the wrong pixel dimensions), the wrong format (HEIC that Windows will not open, WebP a portal rejects, a JPG where you need transparency), or it needs a quick edit (background, crop, text, watermark, blur).
Every image tool here runs in your browser: photos are processed on your device and are not uploaded. That includes the AI tools, such as the background remover and upscaler, whose models download once and then run locally.

What is the difference between resizing and compressing?
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions, for example 4000 x 3000 to 1080 x 810. Compressing keeps the dimensions but stores the pixels more efficiently, trading a little quality for fewer kilobytes. To hit a strict size limit you often need both.
Which format should I use: JPG, PNG or WebP?
JPG for photos, PNG for screenshots, logos and anything that needs transparency or sharp text, and WebP for websites, where it is usually noticeably smaller than JPG at similar quality and also supports transparency.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The image tools, including the AI background remover and upscaler, process everything locally in your browser tab. Closing the tab discards the working copy.
Why does my photo look blurry after resizing?
Enlarging past the original pixel count has to invent detail, and many platforms re-compress uploads. Start from the largest original, resize down rather than up, and export at the exact size the platform recommends.
Is a converted HEIC photo lower quality?
Converting HEIC to JPG is a lossy step, but at a high quality setting the difference is hard to see. Keep the original HEIC if you may edit it again later.
