Professional Headshot Maker: a studio-style headshot from your own selfie

Drop a selfie and get a clean head-and-shoulders headshot for LinkedIn, your resume, Slack, Teams or Zoom. You are cut out of your own photo, placed on a studio backdrop and framed with your eyes in the upper third. It is not an AI face generator: your face is not redrawn or retouched, and the photo never leaves your device.

Video transcript
  1. Add a clear photo. Use a well-lit photo of your face and shoulders, looking at the camera.
  2. Pick a backdrop. Swap the busy background for a studio color. Navy looks sharp on LinkedIn.
  3. Adjust the framing. Zoom a little so your head and shoulders fill the frame nicely.
  4. Check the result. Soft light and a natural shadow keep it from looking cut out.
  5. Download your headshot. Save it as PNG or JPG and use it on your profile or resume.

How to use Professional Headshot Maker

  1. 1. Drop, choose or paste a well-lit selfie of just you, facing the camera, from the chest up. It opens on your device — nothing is uploaded.
  2. 2. Wait a few seconds while your face is found and you are cut out of the background (the first time downloads a 25 MB model, then it is cached).
  3. 3. Pick a size (LinkedIn, Resume, Square, Slack / Teams / Zoom or Custom), a backdrop and the light fix (Off, Subtle or Normal). Hold Hold to compare to see your original photo, and use Zoom or Move if you want a different crop.
  4. 4. Download the headshot as PNG or JPG, or tick several backdrops and download them all as one ZIP to try on your profile.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an AI headshot generator?

No. AI headshot generators create a new, synthetic picture of you. This tool keeps your own photo: it cuts you out, places you on a studio-style backdrop, gently corrects light and crops to headshot framing. Your face, skin and features are not redrawn, smoothed or reshaped.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Face detection, the cut-out model and all the image processing run inside your browser. Only the models are downloaded (once, then cached); your photo never leaves your device and is not stored by this page.

What does the light fix change?

Only the overall exposure, white balance and contrast, worked out from simple statistics of your photo, like a basic camera correction. Subtle applies half of it, Normal all of it, Off none. There is no skin smoothing, slimming or face editing, and you can hold Hold to compare to see the original at any time.

Which sizes should I use?

LinkedIn recommends a square photo of at least 400×400 pixels, shown as a circle. Resumes and CVs usually use a 3:4 portrait, so 600×800 works well. Slack, Microsoft Teams and Zoom show small round avatars, so the 512×512 option crops a little closer. Square 1080 suits websites and social profiles, and Custom takes any size from 64 to 4096 pixels.

Why does it warn me about my photo?

The tool warns you when it finds no face, several faces, a face that is small in the frame (it will look soft when enlarged), a very dark or backlit photo, or a photo that ends at your chin. Each warning says how to take a better photo: face a window in daylight, keep only yourself in the frame and include your shoulders.

Can I use it for a passport or ID photo?

No — official ID photos have strict rules and many agencies reject edited backgrounds. Use the Passport Photo Maker for the correct sizes and head-size guides, and ideally shoot against a plain light wall.
