Frequently asked questions
Is the cartoon photo effect free, and does it add a watermark?
It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark. Exports are rendered at full resolution up to 4000 pixels on the long side, and the file name includes the final size, for example photo-comic-4000x3000.jpg.
Is my photo uploaded when I use the cartoon effect?
No. Every filter runs on an HTML canvas in your browser, so your photo stays on your device. The page also saves your last photo and settings in this browser’s local storage so you can restore them after a reload; clicking New image clears it.
How do I turn a photo into a comic book style picture?
Choose the Comic preset for fewer colors and bold outlines, or Pop art to add Ben-Day style halftone dots. Raise Edge strength for thicker ink lines and lower Color levels for flatter shading, then download the result.
How do I make a two-color duotone poster from a photo?
Select the Duotone preset or pick a palette from the Duotone menu, such as Pop pink / yellow, Navy / cream or Teal / orange. Choose Custom to set your own shadow and light colors, then adjust Color levels for smoother or bolder bands.
Why does my cartoon picture look noisy or too detailed?
Noise usually comes from low Smoothness or a low Edge strength threshold picking up texture. Increase Smoothness to blur fine detail before the effect, lower Color levels, or reduce Edge strength so only stronger outlines are inked.
Should I download my cartoon image as JPG or PNG?
JPG files are smaller and fine for social media and messages. PNG is lossless, which keeps flat colors and halftone dots crisp for printing, stickers or further editing, but files are larger. Both export at the same full resolution.
