Free · No sign-upHow to use GIF Maker
- 1. Drop your images into the box — JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, or an existing animated GIF, which is split into its frames in Chrome, Edge and other browsers that support it.
- 2. Drag the thumbnails to reorder frames. Click a frame to set its own duration, move, duplicate or delete it, or use Reverse order.
- 3. Set the Frame duration, Aspect, Width, Fit and Background (or Transparent), and add a Crossfade, Boomerang or a loop count. The preview updates live.
- 4. Click Make GIF. The GIF downloads automatically; lower the width or colors if you need a smaller file for chat apps.
Frequently asked questions
Is this GIF maker free, with no watermark?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and nothing is added to your GIF — no watermark or logo.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Frames are drawn and encoded into a GIF in your browser with the open-source gifenc library, so your images never leave your device. Only the small encoder downloads the first time you make a GIF.
How many frames can a GIF have?
Up to 300 source frames. Crossfade transitions add a few in-between frames, and Boomerang plays the frames forward and then backward, so the finished GIF can have more frames than you added.
How do I make the GIF file smaller?
Choose a smaller Width, fewer Colors (128, 64 or 32), turn off Crossfade and Dithering, or use fewer frames. The file size is shown next to the download button.
Can I make a GIF with a transparent background?
Yes. Tick Transparent and use PNG or WebP images with transparent areas. GIF supports only fully transparent or fully opaque pixels, so soft edges become hard edges.
Can I edit or combine existing GIFs?
Yes, in browsers with the ImageDecoder API (Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers), a dropped animated GIF, WebP or APNG is split into its frames with their original timing, so you can reorder, retime or combine several GIFs. Other browsers use only the first frame.
