QR Code Scanner
Read a QR code from an image, a screenshot or your camera. Links are shown with their real destination and safety warnings, and Wi-Fi, contact and calendar codes are decoded for you.
Free · No sign-upHow to use QR Code Scanner
- 1. Drop or choose a photo or screenshot of the QR code, paste an image with Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac), or press Scan with camera.
- 2. If you use the camera, allow access and hold the code inside the frame. Scanning stops by itself when a code is found.
- 3. Read the result: links show the real domain and warnings for shorteners, raw IP addresses or look-alike domains; Wi-Fi codes show the network name and password.
- 4. Copy the text, open the link only if you trust it, or save a contact (.vcf) or event (.ics).
Frequently asked questions
How do I scan a QR code from a screenshot or image?
Drop the image onto the scanner, choose it from your files, or copy it and press Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac) on this page. The code is read in your browser; the image is never uploaded.
Is it safe to open links from QR codes?
Not always. Fake QR codes on parking meters, posters and emails are a known scam. The scanner never opens a link by itself: it shows the real domain first and warns about link shorteners, raw IP addresses, look-alike (punycode) domains, unencrypted http links and hidden login parts.
How do I get the Wi-Fi password from a QR code?
Scan the Wi-Fi QR code and the scanner shows the network name (SSID), the security type and the password, each with a copy button.
Why can't it find the QR code?
Make sure the whole code is visible with some blank margin around it, in focus and evenly lit. Very small or blurry codes may not decode; crop the image closer or take a sharper photo. Both dark-on-light and inverted codes are supported.
Does the camera scanner work on phones?
Yes. It uses the back camera when one is available. Your browser asks for camera permission first; the video stays on your device and the camera turns off as soon as a code is found or you leave the page.
Can it read barcodes too?
This tool reads QR codes only. It can read several QR codes in one image in browsers that support the built-in barcode detector, such as Chrome and Edge.
