How to use ✂️ AI Clip Finder

  1. 1. Paste your video transcript or the contents of an .srt or .vtt subtitle file into the box. Timestamps help the AI give exact start and end times.
  2. 2. Optionally click Use your own key to add a free Groq or Gemini API key for higher limits; otherwise the shared free AI is used.
  3. 3. Click Find viral clips. Long transcripts are read in parts with a progress message, then combined into one list of the 3 to 5 best moments.
  4. 4. Review each suggested clip’s time range, reason, hook title and caption with hashtags, then press Copy and cut the clips in your video editor.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI Clip Finder free, and how long can the transcript be?

It is free. Paste at least a few lines; short transcripts go to the AI in one request, and long ones are split into parts. About 60,000 characters (roughly an hour of speech) are analyzed; anything beyond that is skipped and the result tells you so.

Is my transcript private when I use the AI Clip Finder?

No, it is processed in the cloud. Your transcript is sent to the GrabCast server and on to an AI provider (Groq or Pollinations), and your browser may contact Pollinations directly if our server is slow. Replies are cached in memory for about 30 minutes. Don’t paste confidential material.

How do I find the best moments in a podcast for YouTube Shorts?

Export the episode’s subtitles as SRT or VTT, or copy the auto-generated transcript, paste it here and click Find viral clips. The AI suggests 3 to 5 moments of 20 to 45 seconds, each with a time range, a hook title and a caption.

Why does the AI Clip Finder need timestamps?

Without timestamps the AI can only quote the lines it picked, so you have to search for them yourself. With an SRT or VTT file, each subtitle is compacted to a [mm:ss] line and the suggestions include start and end times you can jump to.

What does using my own API key change in the Clip Finder?

Adding your own free Groq or Gemini key gives you higher limits than the shared AI. The key is stored in your browser, and if you’re logged in it syncs to your account in encrypted form. It is passed through our server with your own requests only, never shared.

Which subtitle formats work with the AI Clip Finder?

You can paste plain text, SRT or WebVTT. SRT and VTT cue numbers, arrows and tags are stripped automatically. Results are written in the transcript’s language as formatted text you can copy, and the tool works with any editor, including CapCut, Premiere and DaVinci Resolve.
