How to use Audio Cutter & Ringtone Maker

  1. 1. Drop an audio or video file (MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, MP4, MOV…). The waveform appears in a few seconds.
  2. 2. Drag the purple start and end handles on the waveform, or type exact times and nudge them by 0.1 s. Use + Zoom for fine cuts and ▶ Play selection to listen.
  3. 3. Choose Keep or Remove the selection, add a fade in / fade out, and pick MP3, M4A, WAV or iPhone ringtone (M4R). “Make it 30 s” sets up a ringtone in one tap.
  4. 4. Click Cut & save, listen to the result and Download it. For an iPhone ringtone, follow the short tip shown under the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is this audio cutter free? Is there a length limit?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up and no watermark, and there is no fixed length limit. Because everything runs in your browser's memory, very large files (roughly over 300 MB on a phone or 1.5 GB on a computer) may fail; converting a long video to MP3 first makes it much lighter.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The waveform is drawn with your browser's Web Audio engine and the cut is made by ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, which downloads once (about 32 MB) and is then cached. Your audio never leaves your device.

How do I make an iPhone ringtone?

Select up to 40 seconds (the tool warns you if it is longer; “Make it 30 s” does it for you), choose iPhone ringtone (M4R) and save. Then connect your iPhone to a computer and drag the .m4r onto it in Finder or iTunes, or import the audio into GarageBand on the iPhone and use Share → Ringtone. On Android, an MP3 works as a ringtone.

Is the cut exact, and does it lose quality?

The cut lands at the times you set, to a hundredth of a second. The audio is re-encoded into the format you choose: MP3 and M4A/M4R at 128–320 kbps, or lossless 16-bit WAV. Pick 256 or 320 kbps to stay close to an MP3 original. In Remove mode the two parts are joined with a 30 ms crossfade so there is no click.

Can I cut the audio out of a video?

Yes. Drop an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file and the tool uses its first audio track; the picture is discarded and you get an audio file in the format you choose.

What happens to tags and cover art?

Basic tags such as title and artist are normally carried over from the original, but embedded cover art is not kept. Sample rate and mono/stereo stay the same as the source.
