Grade Calculator
Find your current class grade from weighted categories or points, see what you need on the rest of the course, and work out the final exam score you need for the grade you want.
Free · No sign-upHow to use Grade Calculator
- 1. Pick Course grade and enter each assignment or category with its grade — a percent like 88 or points like 45/50 — and its weight from the syllabus.
- 2. Read your weighted course grade and letter. If your weights add up to less than 100%, you’ll also see the average you need on the rest of the course to hit your target.
- 3. Switch to Final exam grade, enter your current grade, how much the final is worth and the grade you want, to see the exact score you need (and for an A, B, C or D).
- 4. Open What if I score… to test a final exam score, then copy the result or a share link for your study group.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a weighted grade?
Multiply each grade by its weight, add those together, and divide by the total weight. For example 90% homework worth 20%, 80% quizzes worth 30% and 70% exams worth 50% gives (90×20 + 80×30 + 70×50) ÷ 100 = 77%, a C+.
What do I need on my final exam?
Needed score = (grade you want − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. With an 85% and a final worth 20%, you need (90 − 85 × 0.8) ÷ 0.2 = 110% for a 90, so an A isn’t possible without extra credit, but 60% keeps a B.
Can I enter points instead of percentages?
Yes. Type points as earned/possible, like 45/50. With weights, each row becomes a percent before weighting; with no weights at all, the calculator adds up all your points and divides by the total possible.
What if my weights don’t add up to 100%?
If they add up to less, the calculator treats the rest as work you haven’t done yet and shows the average you need on it for your target grade. If they add up to more, each weight is scaled so the grade still comes out right, and you get a warning to check the syllabus.
What grading scale does it use for letter grades?
The common US scale: A+ 97–100, A 93–96.99, A− 90–92.99, B+ 87–89.99, and so on down to D− at 60 and F below 60. Your school may use a different scale or round up, so the syllabus has the final word.
