Is this PDF to Excel converter free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Because the conversion runs on your own computer or phone, PDFs over 500 pages should be split into smaller parts first.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is read with PDF.js and the spreadsheet is written with SheetJS, both running in your browser. Only the libraries are downloaded; your document never leaves your device, which makes it safe for bank statements, invoices and payroll reports.
How does it find tables in my PDF?
It groups words into lines by their baseline, then lines up the gaps between words across neighboring rows to find the columns. It works on right-aligned numbers, empty cells, multi-word cells, header rows and several tables per page. Text outside tables becomes one row per line, split into cells at wide gaps.
Are numbers converted to real Excel numbers?
Yes, when the value is unambiguous: 1,234.56, $1,234.56, negatives like -50 or (987.00), and percentages like 12% become real numbers with a matching number format, so SUM and sorting work. IDs and ZIP codes with leading zeros (00123), dates, and abbreviations such as 1.2M are kept as text so nothing is changed by mistake.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Excel?
Scanned pages are images with no text layer, so there is nothing to extract. The tool tells you when this happens. Convert the pages with PDF to JPG, then read them with Image to Text (OCR) and paste the result into your sheet.
What is not kept from the PDF?
The spreadsheet holds the text and numbers only: fonts, colors, cell borders, merged cells, images and charts are not copied. Rotated or vertical text is skipped. Very tightly packed columns may merge into one cell, so check the preview before you download.
