How to record your voice

  1. 1. Pick your Microphone from the list and keep Noise & echo reduction on for speech, or switch it off when recording music.
  2. 2. Click ● Record and allow microphone access; the live level meter turns red if you’re too loud, and ⏸ Pause lets you resume the same take.
  3. 3. Click ■ Stop to finish; the take appears below with a waveform, a player and Trim start and Trim end sliders.
  4. 4. Leave Normalize volume on, choose MP3 128, 192 or 320 kbps, then click ⬇ MP3, WAV or Original to save the recording.

Frequently asked questions

Is this online voice recorder free, and is there a time limit?

Yes, it’s free with no sign-up or watermark. The tool itself sets no recording time limit; the recording is held in your browser’s memory, so very long sessions depend on how much memory your device has. You can make several takes in a row, and each one is listed separately.

Are my voice recordings uploaded anywhere?

No. Recording, trimming, normalizing and MP3 or WAV encoding all happen in your browser, and the audio never goes to our server. The MP3 encoder library is downloaded from a public CDN the first time you export an MP3. Recordings disappear when you close the page, so download the ones you want to keep.

How do I record audio from my computer’s microphone online?

Choose the microphone in the dropdown, click ● Record and allow access when your browser asks. If it says access was blocked, open your browser’s site settings, allow the microphone for this site and try again. External USB mics and headsets appear in the list once permission is granted.

How do I trim silence from the start or end of a voice recording?

After you click ■ Stop, drag the Trim start and Trim end sliders under the waveform; the highlighted part is what you’ll keep, and the player updates when you release the slider. The export buttons then save only the trimmed section.

Can I save my voice recording as an MP3 or WAV file?

Yes. Click ⬇ MP3 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps for a small file that plays everywhere, or WAV for uncompressed 16-bit audio suited to editing. Original saves the browser’s own recording as WebM or M4A. Normalize volume raises the level evenly before export.

Why does my recording sound muffled or cut out with music?

Noise and echo reduction plus automatic gain are tuned for speech and can flatten music or instruments. Turn off Noise & echo reduction before you press Record when capturing music. For speech, keep it on and stay close to the microphone.
