Frequently asked questions

Is the signature maker free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it’s completely free and needs no account or email. You can make as many drawn or typed signatures as you like and download each one as a transparent PNG with no watermark.

Is my signature stored or uploaded anywhere?

No. Your signature is drawn on a canvas in your browser and saved straight to your device; nothing is sent to our server. In Type mode the handwriting fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Keep the PNG somewhere safe, because anyone with the file can paste it.

How do I create an electronic signature for a PDF or Word document?

Draw or type your signature here and click ⬇ Download transparent PNG. In Word or Google Docs, insert it as a picture and resize it. For PDFs, use a PDF signing tool such as GrabCast’s Sign PDF, which also lets you draw or upload a signature directly.

Is a drawn or typed online signature legally binding?

In the US, the E-SIGN Act and UETA generally treat electronic signatures as valid when the signer intends to sign, but some documents have special rules. This tool only creates the signature image; it doesn’t verify identity or add an audit trail, so check requirements for important contracts.

How do I draw a smooth signature with a mouse or trackpad?

Lower the Thickness to about 2 or 3, sign slowly in one or two strokes, and use Clear if it looks shaky. A phone or tablet with a finger or stylus usually gives the most natural result, since the pad supports touch input.

Why use a transparent PNG for my signature?

A transparent PNG has no white box behind the ink, so it sits cleanly on colored letterhead, forms and PDFs. PNG is supported by Word, Google Docs, Pages and most PDF editors, and the drawn version is exported at your screen’s pixel density for sharp edges.
