Template licence & community rules

Short version: use any template for free, for anything legal, including commercial work. Share your own templates under CC0. Never publish other people's brands, content or personal data.

Sections 2–4 apply to every template published to the community gallery.

1. Official GrabCast templates

Official templates (marked “Official” in the Template Studio) are free to use, change and publish in personal and commercial projects, including client work and paid ads, without attribution. You may not resell or redistribute the templates themselves as a template pack or template product.

They contain only original sample text written by GrabCast, fonts under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (Inter, Space Grotesk, DM Serif Display, JetBrains Mono), music and sound effects generated from scratch on your device, and empty photo/video slots. No stock photos, no licensed music, no third-party logos.

2. Community templates (CC0 1.0)

When you publish a template, you dedicate the template itself — its text, layout, colours, font choice, timing and music settings — to the public domain under Creative Commons CC0 1.0. Anyone may use, change, remix and share it for any purpose, also commercially, without asking. GrabCast shows your chosen display name and “Remix of …” credits as a courtesy, not as a licence condition.

Your photos, video clips, logo and handle are never part of a published template: media stays on your device, and your handle is replaced with “@yourbrand”. You can unpublish your template at any time; copies other people already saved stay theirs under CC0.

3. What you may publish

  • Only your own work (or public-domain text). No copied designs, quotes you have no right to share, song lyrics or text from other creators' posts.
  • No brand names, logos, trademarks or product claims of companies you don't own, and no impersonation.
  • No personal information: no names of private people, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses or links (links are blocked automatically).
  • No spam or advertising, no misleading health, money or legal claims, nothing illegal, hateful, violent, sexual or harassing, and nothing aimed at children.
  • Up to 5 templates a day and 30 in the gallery per account, and up to 3 waiting for review at once (fair-use limits that keep the gallery reviewable).
  • To publish, your account needs a verified e-mail address and must be at least 24 hours old.

4. Community review, ratings and reports

Automated checks. Before anyone sees a template, GrabCast checks it automatically: links, e-mail addresses and phone numbers are blocked, slurs are refused, strong language, near-copies of other templates, unchanged official templates and blank thumbnails are caught.

Community review. A new creator's templates are reviewed before they appear in the gallery by trusted creators — GrabCast users who have published several well-rated templates without breaking these rules — and by GrabCast moderators. Two approvals publish a template; reviewers can also ask for changes or reject and report it. If too few people review it within 3 days, it is published only if every automated check passed; otherwise a GrabCast moderator decides. After your first approved template, your templates go live straight away (unless an automated check flags them). Reviewers never see who you are beyond your display name, can't review their own or related accounts' templates, and their votes count more or less depending on how often they matched final decisions.

Ratings. Signed-in users can rate templates from 1 to 5 stars (one rating per account, not your own). To keep rankings fair, ratings from brand-new accounts, from the author's own devices or network, and bursts of ratings from the same network count less or not at all. Uses, saves and remixes are counted too (once per person per day for uses). Rankings (Trending, Top rated, Most used) are calculated automatically and are not paid placements.

Reports and takedown. Every community template has a ⚑ Report button — no account needed. When enough different people report the same template it is hidden automatically (reports from established accounts count more). The author can ask once for a community re-review; trusted reviewers then keep it or remove it. GrabCast moderators can review, restore, hide or remove any template at any time, and every decision is logged. The author is notified in their account.

Repeat violations. Each template removed or declined for breaking these rules is a strike. With one strike in the last 90 days your templates are reviewed again before they appear; with three, publishing is paused until 90 days after the last one. GrabCast may disable publishing, or the account, of anyone who repeatedly infringes others' rights (see the Terms).

Copyright owners can also send a formal notice under our DMCA policy; see the Terms (acceptable use) for the general rules.

5. Your own designs

Designs you save to your account are private to you. They contain only the template data (no media) and are deleted with your account. You're responsible for the photos, clips, music files and text you add to your own exports — use only material you own or have permission to use.
