Frequently asked questions

Is the image resizer free, and how big can the images be?

Yes, it’s free with no watermark or sign-up, and you can resize a whole batch at once. The only cap is the output size: images larger than about 60 megapixels are refused because the browser may run out of memory, so very large prints may need a desktop editor.

Are my photos uploaded when I resize them?

No. Resizing happens on a canvas in your browser, so your images never reach our server. The only thing fetched from the internet is the ZIP helper library, loaded from a public CDN when you download a batch as a ZIP.

How do I resize a photo for an Instagram post or story?

Choose Social media sizes, then pick Instagram post 1:1 (1080×1080), Instagram portrait 4:5 (1080×1350) or Story / Reel / TikTok 9:16 (1080×1920). Use Crop to fill for no bars, or Fit + blurred background to keep the whole photo visible.

How do I resize an image without stretching or distorting it?

In Pixels mode, keep Keep aspect ratio checked and enter only the width or only the height; the other side is calculated for you. If you fill in both with the box checked, the image fits inside that box without distortion. Percent mode always keeps proportions.

Can I resize a picture to 2×2 inches for a passport photo?

There’s a Passport 2×2 in (600 px) preset that outputs a 600 × 600 pixel square, which is 2 inches at 300 dpi. Resizing doesn’t check official rules such as head size, background color or lighting, so review your country’s requirements before submitting.

Which formats can I resize, and does resizing reduce quality?

It accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF where your browser supports them, and exports JPG, PNG or WebP. Large reductions use step-by-step high-quality downscaling to avoid jagged edges; enlarging above 100% can’t add real detail, so images may look soft.
